35. drākṣā mlānamukhī

द्राक्षा म्लानमुखी जाता
शर्करा चास्मतां गता ।
सुभाषितरसस्याग्रे
सुधा भीता दिवं गता ॥

drākṣā mlānamukhī jātā
śarkarā cāsmatāṃ gatā

subhāṣitarasasyāgre
sudhā bhītā divaṃ gatā

द्राक्षा (drākṣā) = grapes
म्लानमुखी जाताः (mlānamukhī jātāḥ) = became wilted faced (became raisins)
शर्करा च (śarkarā ca) = and sugar
अस्मतां गता (asmatāṃ gatā) = became stone / solidified (crystal sugar) (stunned)
सुधा भीता दिवं गता (sudhā bhītā divaṃ gatā) = nectar, being afraid, died (went to heaven)
सुभाषितरसस्य अग्रे (subhāṣitarasasya agre) = on origination of golden sayings (in front of the sweetness of the subhashita-s)

Meaning: Grapes, sugar and nectar felt insecure that something sweeter than them has arrived!
