76. puṇyasya phalamicchanti

पुण्यस्य फलमिच्छन्ति
पुण्यं नेच्छन्ति मानवाः ।
फलं पपस्य नेच्छन्ति
पापं कुर्वन्ति यत्नतः ॥

puṇyasya phalamicchanti
puṇyaṃ necchanti mānavāḥ ।
phalaṃ papasya necchanti
pāpaṃ kurvanti yatnataḥ ॥

मानवाः (mānavāḥ) = humans
पुण्यस्य फलम् इच्छन्ति (puṇyasya phalam icchanti) = desire result of merit (good deeds) viz., happiness
पुण्यं न इच्छन्ति (puṇyaṃ na icchanti) = (but) do not desire / perform merits
पपस्य फलं न इच्छन्ति (papasya phalaṃ na icchanti) = do not desire the result of demerit viz., sorrow
यत्नतः पापं कुर्वन्ति (yatnataḥ pāpaṃ kurvanti) = but put efforts in performing demerits.

Meaning: Everyone wants to be happy, but nobody wants to do good actions. Nobody wants sorrow, yet they perform bad actions or crimes with efforts!
