हस्तस्य भूषणं दानं
सत्यं कण्ठस्य भूषणम् ।
श्रोत्रस्य भूषणं शास्त्रं
भूषणैः किं प्रयोजनम् ॥
hastasya bhūṣaṇaṃ dānaṃ
satyaṃ kaṇṭhasya bhūṣaṇam ।
śrotrasya bhūṣaṇaṃ śāstraṃ
bhūṣaṇaiḥ kiṃ prayojanam ॥
हस्तस्य भूषणं दानं (hastasya bhūṣaṇaṃ dānaṃ) = charity is the ornament of hand
कण्ठस्य भूषणम् सत्यं (kaṇṭhasya bhūṣaṇam satyaṃ) = truth is the ornament of throat
श्रोत्रस्य भूषणं शास्त्रं (śrotrasya bhūṣaṇaṃ śāstraṃ) = (listening to the) scripture is the ornament of ear
(अन्यैः) भूषणैः किं प्रयोजनम् ((anyaiḥ) bhūṣaṇaiḥ kiṃ prayojanam) = what is the use / purpose of (other) ornaments?
