चिन्तायास्च चितायास्च
बिन्दुमात्रं विशेष्यते ।
चिता दहति निर्जीवं
चिन्ता दहति जीवितम् ॥
cintāyāsca citāyāsca
bindumātraṃ viśeṣyate ।
citā dahati nirjīvaṃ
cintā dahati jīvitam ॥
चिन्तायः (cintāyaḥ) = In worry
च (ca) = and
चितायाः (citāyāḥ) = In pyre
बिन्दुमात्रं विशेष्यते (bindumātraṃ viśeṣyate) = difference is only of a dot (nasal)
चिता निर्जीवं दहति (citā nirjīvaṃ dahati) = pyre (made for cremation) burns the dead
चिन्ता जीवितं दहति (cintā jivitaṃ dahati) =worry burns one alive
Meaning: In worry and in pyre, the difference is only of a dot (nasal sound). The pyre (चिता) burns the dead whereas the worry (चिंता) burns one alive.
