ॐ सह नाववतु ।
सह नौ भुनक्तु ।
सह वीर्यं करवावहै ।
तेजस्वि नावधीतमस्तु ।
मा विद्विषावहै ।
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥
ॐ श्री गणेशाय नमः ।
ॐ श्री सरवत्यै नमः ।
ॐ श्री जुरुभ्यो नमः ।
oṃ saha nāvavatu ।
saha nau bhunaktu ।
saha vīryaṃ karavāvahai ।
tejasvi nāvadhītamastu ।
mā vidviṣāvahai ।
oṃ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ ॥
oṃ śrī gaṇeśāya namaḥ ।
oṃ śrī saravatyai namaḥ ।
oṃ śrī jurubhyo namaḥ ।
ॐ सह नाववतु (oṃ saha nāvavatu) = May He protect us both together;
सह नौ भुनक्तु (saha nau bhunaktu) = May He nourish us both together;
सह वीर्यं करवावहै (saha vīryaṃ karavāvahai) = May we work conjointly with great energy;
तेजस्वि नावधीतमस्तु (tejasvi nāvadhītamastu)= May our learning be vigorous and effective (or luminous and purposeful)
मा विद्विषावहै (mā vidviṣāvahai) = May we not mutually dispute (or may we not hate any)
ॐ शान्तिः = शान्तिः शान्तिः (oṃ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ) = OM! Let there be peace in me! Let there be peace in my environment! Let there be peace in the forces that act on me!
Context: Above śloka is traditionally recited before start of every teaching in the guru śiṣya paraṃpara (sanātan teacing tradition)
Meaning: May He protect us both together; may He nourish us both together; may we work conjointly with great energy; may our learning be vigorous and effective (or luminous and purposeful); may we not mutually dispute (or may we not hate any). OM! Let there be peace in me! Let there be peace in my environment! Let there be peace in the forces that act on me!
